These LED lights are very robust and versatile

The 3W MR16 is compatible with AC or DC in a range from 8 to 16V.
It can be 100% safely run at 12V AC although it's best performance and longevity is obtained using 12V DC.
There are some poor quality transformers ( marked 12V AC ) on the market.
This type of transformer can damage not only LED but also traditional halogen bulbs.

Example 1:
We've found transformers marked 12V AC, but actually running at 6~9V AC. If our MR16 operated with this kind of transformer, the bulb will run at 60% light output or flicker sometimes.
Example 2:
We've found transformers marked 12V AC, but actually 14~20V AC. If our MR16 operated with this type of transformer, the bulb might be damaged or destroyed.

Therefore we highly recommend that you test your AC transformer before using any type of LED from any supplier on 12v AC supply.
